Searching for an anti-algae pond product leads to very different solutions: maintenance powders, bacteria, clarifiers, UV systems, or cleaning equipment. Comparing them solely on the price of the container or the promise of clear water risks choosing a product that does not meet your needs.
The right purchase is one for which you can explain the role, calculate the necessary quantity, and follow the instructions in your pond. Here are the criteria to examine before ordering, with a special focus on Aquipond solutions.

Define the result you are looking for
Do you want to remove strands around a pump, regain visibility in uniformly green water, or maintain a bottom loaded with waste? These three requests do not correspond to the same task.
Filamentous algae grow on surfaces and form visible clumps. Microscopic algae in suspension can color the entire water body. Silt, on the other hand, is a deposit whose composition should be examined.
Prepare photos and indicate how long the problem has existed. If the appearance is unusual, especially with a suspicious layer or an abnormal odor, have the situation identified before choosing a product. A commercial "anti-algae" category does not constitute a diagnosis.
Read the precise indication, beyond the trade name
Two products with similar names can have different formulations or instructions for use. Check the manufacturer, the full name, the presentation, and the intended use.
A product intended to support biological filtration should not be purchased as if it instantly removes algae. A clarifier that clumps particles together then requires them to be extracted. A UV light acts on the water passing through the device and does not directly clean surfaces covered in filaments.
The product sheet should allow you to answer this question: "Which stage of my maintenance will this product handle?" If the answer remains vague, have it clarified before purchasing.
Compare the cost of the complete program
The price per kilogram or liter is useful but incomplete. You must know the dose per application, the volume concerned, and the frequency provided by the instructions.
Let’s take a purely arithmetic example: at a hypothetical dose of 20 grams per cubic meter, an 8 m³ pond requires 160 grams per application. Four applications would represent 640 grams. This example is not the usage guide for any product; it shows why the weight of a pot is not enough to compare its duration of use.
Add the associated needs: water tests, waste removal, or filter maintenance. A low-cost solution may require an organization that your setup does not yet allow.
Verify the volume and conditions of the pond
Recheck the measurements or the volume recorded during filling. For an irregular shape, the maximum depth does not correspond to the average depth. Steps and slopes count in the estimate.
Specify the population and other inhabitants: fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and plants. A product recommended for an ornamental pond does not automatically suit a wildlife pond or a natural swimming pool.
Temperature, water parameters, and recent treatments can also play a role in the choice. Ask for the conditions of the exact reference and transmit the measured results, with their units.
Aquipond Greenstab: for which maintenance project?

Aquipond Greenstab is proposed to support the control of excessive algae blooms. It integrates into a maintenance routine that also examines feeding, waste, and inputs from the garden.
The range includes different pack sizes, including a 10 kg Greenstab presentation. The choice of format should be based on calculated needs and storage conditions, without assuming that a large pot is preferable in all cases.
Check the current instructions on the packaging. A "natural" mention does not exempt you from measuring the quantity or checking compatibility. Do not extrapolate a treatment schedule from a general promise of duration.
Maintenance bacteria and bacteria for silt
The word "bacteria" covers several uses. Aquipond Bacto Maintenance is chosen as part of a biological maintenance approach. Its preparation and conditions of use are specific to this formulation.
For a bottom loaded with organic matter, Aquipond Bactovase answers a different question. You must look at the origin and nature of the deposits. Soil and sand do not disappear under the action of a product intended for organic degradation.
Do not automatically transpose the dose or UV management from one bacterial product to another. A powder and a liquid version may require different procedures, even when their names belong to the same range.
When is cleaning equipment a priority?
Accessible clumps can be removed gradually with a suitable tool, while preserving plants and small wildlife. The benefit is to actually extract matter from the pond.
For localized deposits, the PondoVac 4 and PondoVac 5 should be compared according to suction depth, access, waste discharge management, and frequency of use. Their relevance does not depend solely on the advertised power.
Plan for the destination of the vacuumed water and maintenance of the level. For a large natural pond, vacuuming with a garden device may not correspond to the scale of the work; an on-site opinion then becomes useful.
Plan for oxygenation and waste removal
Before a major intervention, take stock of the aeration and circulation. The decomposition of a mass of algae can increase oxygen consumption. Temperature and population influence the available margin.
The filter may also receive more waste after the intervention. Check the access and cleaning method for mechanical parts. If you cannot monitor the installation, choose the timing of the intervention accordingly.
Fish distress requires a quick search for its cause. Do not add a second product to try to compensate for an unusual reaction to the first without appropriate advice.
Questions to ask before validating your basket
- Does the product correspond to the observed algae and the use of the pond?
- Is the volume reliable enough to calculate the quantity?
- What parameters must be checked before application?
- What does the instructions say regarding filtration, UV, and aeration?
- How will the matter be removed?
- What is the waiting time before evaluating or renewing the action?
- Are the recently used products compatible?
Keep a copy of the ordered reference and the instructions. Upon receipt, compare the name and packaging before opening. If the label differs from what you expected, have the procedure verified.
Prepare for a sustainable choice
Products and equipment give better results when they integrate into a consistent maintenance routine. Reduce food scraps, accumulated leaves, and soil runoff. Check that the filtration corresponds to the current population.
To compare the Aquipond solutions suited to your case, send your photos, the volume, and the analyses to support@aquiflor.com. The choice can then focus on a precise function, a useful packaging size, and an understandable program.
