Sludge forms from the accumulation of leaves, plant debris, and waste at the bottom of the pond. As it decomposes, it consumes oxygen and releases nutrients that promote algae growth. Reducing it regularly helps keep the water clearer and the bottom healthy.
- Bactovase (Aquipond), in 1 to 25 kg granules or 5 L liquid, for natural ponds.
- Clean-Lac (Aquatic Science), dosed according to surface area up to 800 m².
- Microbe-Lift Sludge Away and Natural Sludge Reducer 4 L.
These products provide bacteria that gradually break down organic matter: they work best in temperate, oxygenated water, from spring to autumn. Dose according to surface area and sludge thickness, and supplement with a pond vacuum or an anti-leaf net if there is significant debris input.
